• Oct 24, 2020 from 7:00am to 7:00pm
  • Location: online
  • Latest Activity: on Saturday
  • Are you an experienced facilitator? Whatever your specialty, if you are already facilitating groups in support of Deep Adaptation, or wish to do so, we value your participation.
  • Do you want to use your skills to support learning and community for Deep Adaptation (Resilience, Relinquishment, Restoration and Reconciliation in the face of ecological and societal collapse)?
  • Would you value the support of a Community of Practice in this work?
  • Do you want to share with, and learn from, others who are doing this work?

If so, you are warmly invited to join this Open Space gathering. In our time together you may:

  • Connect with other facilitators who share your values around collapse-awareness and commitment to the “4 R’s” of Deep Adaptation,
  • Help create and contribute to an agenda of ‘facilitation for DA.’ Join small groups around whatever facilitation practices or topics you would like to explore. Or possibly host one, facilitating it in line with DA principles.
  • Explore ways to build community; share methods and practices; address struggles or dilemmas; or… whatever you co-create,
  • Start conversations and collaborations which continue beyond this event,
  • Be inspired to host events or gatherings for members of the larger DA network

The purpose of this event is to bring together members of the DA forum who have expertise in facilitating groups, in order to connect and share, learn and unlearn, and generate energy and community around facilitation for Deep Adaptation.

Stories of convenience, progress and control haven’t prepared us well for being together and supporting each other in times of crisis. The role of group facilitation - enabling people to be together in ways that are wise, compassionate, resilient, balanced, open-minded - is invaluable in these times, and will become increasingly so as economics, politics, and climate make life feel more and more precarious.

This gathering is organised by volunteers from the ‘Deep Adaptation Facilitators’ group, part of the Deep Adaptation Forum, which is an international space to connect people, online and in person, to foster mutual support, collaboration, and professional development in the process of facing societal collapse. The invitation is for facilitators who are working within this context, that is, sharing a view that it is too late to prevent catastrophic climate change. If you are not already a member of the Forum, please consider carefully how this relates to you and your facilitation practice before signing up, as this event will be a space to explore how - as facilitators - we support people in this journey of deep adaptation; it won’t be a space for debating climate science or conversations within the realm of the sustainability paradigm.

English is not your native language? You are invited to set up discussion points in your own language and self-organise within the Open Space framework we will create and hold.

Who’s invited? Members of the Deep Adaptation Facilitators, Deep Adaptation Guides and Holistic Approaches & Guidance are warmly invited. Facilitators from the wider Deep Adaptation community are welcome too.

When does it happen? 24th October 2020 -- Pick a session or join both:
