In this call we will spend some time in a large group,
and much of the time in smaller, breakout groups.
We will check in with one another
and we will spend some time exploring the role
of Coaching and Counseling in times of collapse.

Given our current and imminent collapse
of Human and Earth systems
has been caused by our
Business as Usual human operating system…
And, Given the familiar role
of coaching and counseling has been
to help people cope, grow and ideally thrive
within that Business as Usual system…
How will these fields need to transform
to be effective and supportive
in the midst of systemic collapse?
How will coaches and counselors ourselves transform
in order to be of service to others in our communities.
How must we open ourselves to our own inner work,
our own processing of grief and loss?
How will we grapple with our own experience
of the unraveling of our deeply familiar fossil-fuel-driven lives?

How will we access new possibilities,
our core strengths and resilience?
How will we reconnect with the Web of Life ourselves -
so we might then be able to be of service to others?

We look forward to this call, and this opportunity for
us all to connect and explore together.

See you on the 12th.

Cultural insanity:
While cultural norms are by definition ‘normal’,
they are by no means always sane and healthy.
The term ‘cultural insanity’ refers to normative
templates that have become so counter-productive
and self-defeating, or so misaligned to our basic
human needs, that they stand to undo society or
its life supports. In fact, normality can be the
deadliest of foes.

If we were a more sensitive civilization,
despair could become the defining emotion
of this era. We have plenty of reasons to feel it.
Then again, if we were a more sensitive civilization,
the things that give us reason to despair would not
be things at all.

But that is not our world.

Deep Adaptation dialogues

In the Deep Adaptation Forum we have convened 700 people so far from around the world who want to collaborate around different adaptation themes. But Deep Adaptation implies learning and coordination at the local level perhaps more than the global level. It requires building real working relationships, understanding the local sentiment, local risks and local […]
