This week we will be looking at the concept of Self Care in relationship to Mother Earth. It seems we are the only species who are brought up to feel guilty and selfish if we starts to put our own needs first. This is counter intuitive and proves how far we have come from our natural and original nature. All other creatures on the Earth, including trees, plants and microorganisms know what they need for not only their own survival, but also in order to thrive.
Humans however, have been taught this is wrong but this has led to us behaving in ways that neither fulfil our needs, nor yet allow us to thrive. Maybe it’s time to listen more fully to the Earth and realise that we need to really deeply care for ourselves, giving ourselves enough rest and relaxation, life-giving fresh food, exercise and time for reflection. Then, instead of becoming more self-centred, we actually find we are able to return to our inner natural state of goodness and start to flourish as we maintain Self Care, People Care and Planet Care.
